Our CCTV service covers large parts of East Renfrewshire and helps keep you safe.
East Renfrewshire Council's CCTV control room operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. The CCTV control room has direct access to a dedicated police vehicle (CCTV Response Vehicle).
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is used by us to enhance and complement existing safety and security measures within public areas and buildings to create safe and secure environments. CCTV is used by the Council and its partners to make public areas safer environments for our residents.
At present there are 168 CCTV cameras sited across the authority (public space and property). The provision of CCTV within public buildings provides reassurance to both staff and visitors. CCTV alone cannot solve a problem but its presence does act as a deterrent and is reassuring to the general public.
Other services provided by the CCTV Control Room include:
- Provision of out of hours homeless and housing repair services
- 24/7 Anti-social behaviour Ring and Report hotline (0800 013 0076)
- Provision of the Community Alarm service to 1600 vulnerable residents
- Operating the lone worker service for employees of East Renfrewshire Council and its partners
