The Director of Education (Mhairi Shaw) is the senior officer in this high-achieving Education Department. The services, many of which are considered to be the best in Scotland are delivered through 3 Heads of Education Service covering:

- Quality Improvement & Performance
Our Education Department provides an education service through seven secondary schools, twenty-two primary schools (of which ten have nursery classes), two nursery schools, seven family centres and one school for children with additional learning support needs.
The Education Department also has responsibility for Adult and Family Learning.
