Community Councils

Crookfur, Greenfarm & Mearns Village Community Council

Meetings of Crookfur, Greenfarm & Mearns Village Community Council are held at 7:00 p.m., on the second Thursday of each month in the Fairweather Hall, Barrhead Road, Newton Mearns.

Notice of Interim Election

In accordance with the Clause 5.3 of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils (amended 2015), as the number of elected community council members has fallen below half of the total maximum number of seats on the community council, notice is hereby given that an interim election will be held in respect of all vacant seats.

Accordingly, East Renfrewshire Council is making a call for nominations for membership of the community council:-

Persons wishing to stand for election must be resident in the community council area, aged 16 years or over and be named on the electoral register.

In addition to the foregoing eligibility requirements, the candidate, proposer and seconder must all stay in the relevant neighbourhood area. Self-nomination is not permitted.

As part of the nomination process candidates are required to submit a personal statement of up to a maximum of 250 words in support of their nomination. Copies of all nomination statements will be published.

To stand as a candidate, a valid nomination form must be submitted to Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, Giffnock, G46 6UG.

The deadline for the receipt of completed nomination forms is

12:00 Noon, on Thursday 9 March 2017.

Should the number of validly nominated candidates exceed the number of vacancies in any or all of the neighbourhood areas, a poll shall be held in those neighbourhood areas.

Should the number of validly nominated candidates not exceed the number of vacancies in any or all of the neighbourhood areas, the said candidates will be declared to be elected with immediate effect and no poll shall be held.
