Locals invited to step in speak out and start up

This article was first published on: 17 February 2016

'Step In Speak Out Start Up' wants to engage with people in East Ren who have a learning disability.

With support from East Renfrewshire HSCP the group would like to invite people with a learning disability and their carers and friends to an event.

The afternoon will focus on the five topics which people say are the most difficult for them.

'Step In Speak Out Start Up' has highlighted that falling in love; making friends; making money; having a home and getting around are the main areas of life in which they would most like support.

To help make a difference in these areas, people with learning disabilities, their families, carers and friends are invited to The Redhurst Hotel on Saturday 27 February to have a say in how their lives could be bettered and which steps could be taken towards doing this.

Members of the forum are also looking for people with learning disabilities who are interested in joining their group.

'Step In Speak Out Start Up' is taking place on Saturday 27 February from 1-3pm at The Redhurst Hotel, Giffnock, G46 6QE.

Anyone interested in going along should confirm their attendance with Marianne Keast on 0141 577 3730 or
