Green flag flies for Rouken Glen Park

Rouken Glen Park has been awarded a Green Flag for the eighth year in a row by Keep Scotland Beautiful - the benchmark for quality green space.

This national accolade recognises the best parks and green spaces across Scotland. It is awarded annually to parks and green spaces who can demonstrate excellent management and environmental standards.

Rouken Glen Park is one of 71 parks and green spaces to have been awarded the honour in Scotland this year, reaffirming that Rouken Glen Park is loved by residents across East Renfrewshire and beyond.

Councillor Alan Lafferty, Convener for Environment at East Renfrewshire Council, said: "This is the eighth year in a row that Rouken Glen has been awarded the Green Flag, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our parks staff who go above and beyond to ensure this much-loved greenspace continues to improve each year. Rouken Glen is loved by residents across East Renfrewshire, as well as visitors from further afield, so it's fantastic to once again be recognised with this national honour. We always strive to improve the facilities on offer and with the recent addition of two tennis courts to Rouken Glen I'm sure that even more people will continue to flood to East Renfrewshire's jewel in the crown."

The Green Flag award aims to ensure that everybody has access to well managed, high quality parks and open spaces with community involvement whilst recognising and rewarding the hard work of managers, staff and volunteers.

Green Flag award winning parks and open spaces are judged against eight criteria, including whether they are a welcoming place, healthy safe and secure, well maintained and clean.
