Would you like to have a say on the issues that affect residents in East Renfrewshire? The East Renfrewshire Citizens' Panel is one of the ways that the Council listens to the views of local residents to help make decisions on how best to improve services and to inform key policies. As a Citizens' Panel member you will receive two short survey a year asking for your views on local services and other important issues.

East Renfrewshire Council is working to improve and modernise the services that we deliver for you, the citizens of East Renfrewshire.

The East Renfrewshire Citizens' Panel is a group of approximately 1,200 local people that broadly represent the local population, based on census data on area of residence, age, gender, ethnicity and tenure. Panel members provide their views on major issues that affect East Renfrewshire.

The Panel has been running successfully since 1998 and we have conducted twenty-two surveys to date.

The results from the Panel help shape some of the council's major policies including the Corporate Statement and the Single Outcome Agreement (SOA). The Panel results also help us monitor satisfaction with the services we provide and identify those areas that we need to improve.

Recent findings from the panel

Last year the majority of Panel members told us that overall they continue to be satisfied with East Renfrewshire as a place to live and are satisfied with the services the council provides. East Renfrewshire's good reputation, good transport links and proximity to friends and family were the most common reasons for living in the area. Panel members' views were less positive in relation to the maintenance of roads and footpaths than other council services provided for our residents. The Panel is a really useful way for the council to hear people's views, and the feedback helps us make sure that we continue to improve our services and meet the needs and expectations of our residents.

We use an external Panel contractor to ensure the confidentiality of the database and survey responses and that reporting of results is completely objective.
