Maps showing the location of core paths and information on the purpose of these paths.

The plans show where you can find core paths

The Core Paths Plan is a 146 km network of established routes that connects communities and gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.  The majority of residents are no more than 5  minutes walk from a core path.  Core paths are perfect for simple everyday exercise, local  commuting  on foot or bike and help farmers successfully manage public access on their land.

Find where your nearest core paths are by viewing the plans in the related documents area.

The Core Paths Plan can be purchased for £3.95 plus 4.00 P+P, to purchase contact  the Outdoor Access Officer.

Inquiry report & recommendations

The Core Paths Plan was adopted following a Public Inquiry.  The Scottish Ministers directed the Council to the adopt the Core Paths Plan with modifications to the path network in line with the recommendations in the Inquiry Report.  The Inquiry Report can be viewed in the related documents area.
