Community Councils

Giffnock Community Council

Giffnock Community Council meets at 7:00 p.m., in Giffnock Library, Station Road, on the 3rd Monday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.


Residents who are passionate about their local area are being urged to get involved in the Giffnock Community Council. Community Councils can give their views on many issues that affect local communities, from new housing plans to alcohol licensing applications and crime. It is also an opportunity to campaign on specific issues, run local events and support good causes.

As the number of elected community council members has fallen below half of the total maximum number of seats on the community council, notice is hereby given that an interim election will be held in respect of all vacant seats.

The vacancies within the community council area are listed below:-

Giffnock South Neighbourhood Area (3 vacancies)

Merrylee and Braidbar Neighbourhood Area (5 vacancies)

Orchard Park Neighbourhood Area (4 vacancies)

Persons wishing to stand for election must be resident in the community council area, aged 16 years or over and be named on the electoral register.

In addition, the candidate, proposer and seconder must all stay in the relevant neighbourhood area. Self-nomination is not permitted.

Nomination forms are now available from the Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, - or by contacting Vincent McCulloch, Community Council Liaison Officer, on 0141 577 4645 email - They can also be downloaded from the East Renfrewshire Council Website.

The deadline for the receipt of completed nomination forms is 4.45pm Wednesday 28th February 2018
