A registrar will carry out a search of birth, death, marriage, divorce and parish records if you require information on family history.
A particular search is a search made by a registrar for a specified entry over a 5 year period.
A general search is a search made by a registrar, of the indexes of the registers, over any number of years for any number of entries. Entries subsequently identified from the indexes as relevant to the search can be viewed; notes taken from them or, if desired, extracts purchased for the statutory fee. Maximum search period - 1 hour.
