Local Housing Allowance rates

Local Housing Allowance is the new way of working the maximum Housing Benefit for tenants who rent from a private landlord from 7 April 2008. Further information on the Local Housing Allowance (LHA) is available from the Related documents area of this page.

From 1 April 2012, LHA rates will be an annual rate and will only be reviewed each April.  LHA rates will no longer be reviewed monthly.  Current rates are shown below.

Single people

From 1 January 2012 single people aged under 35 years are entitled to the Housing Benefit shared accommodation rate. By single people we mean someone who is not living:

  • as a couple
  • with dependant children.
