Off-street car parks

Information on Roads and Transportation Service operated car parks including location, hours, and other information.

Parking within East Renfrewshire Council Roads Service controlled off-street car parks is free 24 hours a day. However, a penalty charge notice (PCN) may be given for the following reasons:

  • Parking outwith a bay.
  • Parking in a disabled person's bay without properly displaying a valid Blue Badge.
  • Parking for more than 24 consecutive hours.
  • Unauthorised commercial activities.

The Traffic Regulation Order and maps with the locations of each of the controlled car parks can be found on this page:

Not all car parks in East Renfrewshire are the responsibility of East Renfrewshire Council. East Renfrewshire has an additional mixture of private, housing, and Barrhead Foundry operated car parks. The map only shows the Roads Service operated car parks.

Proposed Off-Street Traffic Regulation Order

Key parking areas across East Renfrewshire are currently in extremely high demand due to the range of competing needs including commuting, shopping and access to leisure facilities.

To support improved accessibility to, and maintain the viability and sustainability of small businesses in the area's town centres, it is proposed to introduce off street parking charges in a limited number of key car parks.  This will allow better access to parking for short-stay leisure and shopping by creating more opportunities for a turnover of space throughout the day.

In addition it is proposed to introduce and or update the controlling regulations for a range of off street car parks that are operated by the Council.  These controlling regulations ensure the safe use of the car parks and assist with a consistent approach to the maintenance and management of the car parks.

Details of the proposals can be viewed in the pdf icon Proposed TRO [164kb] and pdf icon Car Park Maps [2Mb].

The consultation period for the proposed TRO is now closed. Thank you to all who took the time to participate. All objections/representations received are now being processed with responses to each being sent out. All issues raised are being recorded, considered, and will be presented to the Council along with the TRO, including any changes following consultation, before final approval.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this process.
