What can sheltered accommodation offer me?

The Council has 246 self-contained, compact unfurnished flats that would suit singles or couples in Barrhead, Neilston, Newton Mearns, Giffnock, Busby, Netherlee and Eaglesham. There are also a number of open plan studio flats which are ideal for single people.

Each complex has controlled entry, a warden service, on call security, communal gardens and heating. Laundry facilities are also available at all of our complexes with the exception of Kirk Glebe in Neilston.

Mr G wrote in to thank Montgomerie Court Wardens Christine Gilmour and Helen Colquhoun, and described how welcoming and caring both had been to his mother over her past two years at the complex. "Both wardens are lovely caring people who place the care of their residents above all else."

The residencies are easy to maintain and offer occupants the safety that comes with living in a secure environment, while also enabling people to retain their independent lifestyle. All of our complexes have a communal lounge where social activities take place, the activities will vary from complex to complex and residents are free to take part if they wish to do so.

Mrs G wrote to thank Wardens Sandra Divers and Sandra Marshall at the Linn Park complex "for the wonderful job they do, making the complex a happy place to live. There is a lot going on for those who wish to take part and our two wardens put lots of time and effort into organising weekly 'get-togethers', dinners for Halloween, Burns Night and Valentines Day etc."

Each property within our sheltered complexes is fitted with an alarm system that enables residents to contact help in an emergency 24 hours a day. To ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, when on duty, the warden will also make daily contact with residents. Another advantage of living in sheltered housing is that your neighbours are likely to be people of a similar age. Our sheltered accommodation is for people aged 60 or older.
