Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP)
This page provides information about East Renfrewshire Council's 5-year Strategic Housing Investment Plan
Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) 2017-22
Councils are required to supplement their Local Housing Strategy (LHS) with a 5 - year Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP).
The SHIP sets out our current plans for investment of £28m in nearly 500 new affordable homes in East Renfrewshire. This includes much-needed new homes for rent from the Council and housing associations in areas where there is the greatest shortage. These developments will include a mix of investment from Scottish Government, the Council, housing associations etc.
As part of this work we are also committed to working with developers to plan for other affordable homes that may be delivered locally, using alternative investment. These include homes for low cost home ownership, or which could be available for rent at below market rent levels.
The East Renfrewshire SHIP
- Has been developed in partnership with key partners, including housing associations and our Planning Service;
- It reflects the housing investment priorities for the local area, based on what types of homes are required, and where, to meet housing need and demand; and
- Provides detail about the projects which will funded over the period from 2017 to 2022 to help us tackle these priorities.
Progress in delivering the SHIP programme is monitored on an ongoing basis, with formal progress reports to Scottish Government every 2 years.
