Uplawmoor Community Council

Uplawmoor Community Council meets in the Mure Hall, Uplawmoor on the third Monday of each month at 7.30 p.m., with the exception of July and December. Meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL INTERIM ELECTION, UPLAWMOOR COMMUNITY COUNCIL

In accordance with the Clause 5.13 of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils (amended 2015), as the number of elected community council members has fallen below half of the total maximum number of seats on the community council, notice is hereby given that an interim election will be held in respect of all vacant seats.

Accordingly, East Renfrewshire Council is making a call for nominations for membership of the Uplawmoor Community Council which has four vacancies.

Persons wishing to stand for election must be resident in the community council area, aged 16 years or over and be named on the electoral register. The proposer and seconder must be a resident of the community council area and be named on the electoral register. Self-nomination is not permitted.

As part of the nomination process candidates are required to submit a personal statement of up to a maximum of 250 words in support of their nomination. Copies of all nomination statements will be published.

To stand as a candidate, a valid nomination form must be submitted to Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, Giffnock, G46 6UG.

Nomination forms are now available from the Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park or by contacting Vincent McCulloch, Community Council Liaison Officer, on 0141 577 4645 vincent.mcculloch@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk

Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the Council's website.

The deadline for the receipt of completed nomination forms is 4.45pm, on Wednesday 4th October 2017.

 

Should the number of validly nominated candidates exceed the number of vacancies, a poll shall be held.

Should the number of validly nominated candidates not exceed the number of vacancies, the said candidates will be declared to be elected with immediate effect and no poll shall be held.
