Housing services

Young person's housing support service

This service provides housing support and advice to young people between 16 and 25 years old.

We offer two different services:

Outreach support service

The service provides housing information and support to young adults who:

  • live in their own home
  • live in temporary accommodation
  • are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • want to apply for their own tenancy

The outreach helps young adults to:

  •  apply for a council home
  • explore other housing options
  • manage money and apply for benefits
  • apply for grants to help furnish homes
  • deal with debt including rent and council tax arrears
  • support to avoid eviction
  • help with other services such as counselling

School visits

The outreach support team visit schools on a regular basis. The team speak to young people about homelessness prevention and managing a home. They also aim to raise awareness of the service.

Connor Road supported accommodation

This project provides supported accommodation for vulnerable young people between 16 and 25 years old.

The accommodation

Connor Road is made up of 9 one bedroom flats and 2 two bedroom flats. The flats are self-contained.

Support staff work at the accommodation 24 hours a day.

The aim is to help young adults learn to manage a home for when they are ready to move into a home of their own.

Other areas of support include:

  • housing
  • benefits
  •  family and relationships
  • health
  • education, training and employment
  • access to other services such as counselling

Referral to Connor Road

Young adults need a referral to the Connor Road project. This is often made by housing advisers after a homelessness advice interview.

Social workers, health visitors and other agencies can also make referrals.
