Types of fixed penalty notices

A fixed penalty notice is a type of fine. Find out what we can give fines for and for how much.

Dog fouling fines

We can give a fine under section 1 of the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003. This is your dog fouls and you don't clean it up.

The fine is £80. This increases to £100 if you don't pay it within 28 days.

Smoking fines

We can give a fine if you commit an offence under the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005.

Littering fines

We can give a fine if you commit an offence under Section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The fine is £80. You need to pay this within 14 days.

Noise fines

We can give a fine if you commit an offence under Section 45 of the Antisocial Behaviour Etc. (Scotland) Act 2004.

The fine is £100. You need to pay this within 28 days.

Flytipping fines

We can give a fine if you commit an offence under Section 33a of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The fine is £200. You need to pay this within 14 days.
