Environmental Health

If a swarm of bees is in a garden or accessible area, the householder may contact a beekeeper. However, if they are in an inaccessible area or all residents can see is them flying in and out a beekeeper will not attend.

We would not arrange treatment of bees unless there is a swarm of honey bees inside a room and the beekeeper cannot go, as they are a protected species. They are not naturally aggressive.

It is up to the individual to determine if the pests are wasps or bees. Wasps have distinctive yellow and black bands. We would not treat bumblebees and a beekeeper will not take them.
