Old - Apply to a primary school

Information on registering your child at primary school and how to register your child during school term.

You will need to arrange to visit the school to register for education. It is not possible to apply for a place online.

The application process requires you to:

  1. Choose a denominational or nondenominational catchment area school
  2. Contact the school directly to request registration into the first year (P1)
  3. If you live outside the catchment area of the school you wish your child to attend, you may make a placing request (a place at the school is not guaranteed)

A consultation on proposed new arrangements to school admissions, the transfer of pupils from primary to secondary school and placing requests, has recently concluded.  The proposed new arrangements were approved by Education Committee on 20 December 2016.  School admission, pupil transfers from primary to secondary and placing requests will be administered in line with the new arrangements from January 2017 and beyond. All children in P1-P3 receive free school meals. If your child is entering P4 or above you may still be eligible for free meals. Free school meals and clothing grants
