Early learning and childcare

Choosing early learning and childcare

All 3 and 4 year olds, and some 2 year olds, qualify for 600 hours of free early learning and childcare which can be offered in different ways.

Council run early learning and childcare

Nursery classes

Nursery classes are located in primary schools. We have 11 nursery classes which provide early learning and childcare for 3 and 4 year olds.

Some of our nurseries offer wraparound care and lunch cover over and above the free 600 hours. The hourly rate is £2.25.

Family Centres

We have 8 Family Centres. These are standalone and provide support to children and families. They open 50 weeks of the year and offer parents childcare during holiday periods.
