East Renfrewshire Council staff with specific records management responsibilities have these detailed in their job descriptions.

In addition, the Council is committed to providing access to appropriate learning and development opportunities to all employees. This enables them to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, abilities and qualifications to carry out the duties of their posts efficiently and effectively, and to acquire new skills relevant to the duties they will have to undertake in the future. This aim is supported by the Learning & Development Policy and the Performance Review & Development (PRD) Scheme.

The PRD is seen by the Council as an important component of the wider process of performance management as a means of assessing an individual's performance to improve future outcomes and identify both potential and development needs.

The Council has also developed a records management e-learning training module and will be raising awareness of all staff of the RMP once it has been approved by the Keeper.
