Housing services

How housing services can support all homeowners and our obligations as a council.

Private sector housing team

The private sector housing team is a part of the housing services. They provide additional support services to homeowners, landlords and tenants, but do not manage the factoring service. They can be contacted (about any of the following) on 0141 577 8362 or by email at

The team has responsibility for a range of functions aimed at improving private sector housing in East Renfrewshire, including:

The scheme of assistance

The Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 requires all local authorities to produce a scheme of assistance, supported by an approved statement. The scheme of assistance offers advice and assistance to people who need to carry out repair and improvement work on their homes (including disabled adaptations).

It offers a wide range of services, and aims to encourage home owners to take responsibility for the condition of their homes. The East Renfrewshire statement of assistance can be found in the related documents section on this page.

Housing adaptations

The private sector team have recently devised a housing adaptations leaflet in relation to information and advice for clients, who wish to seek further information on adaptations, housing options, Care and Repair services and Health and Social Care Partnership assessments.  The leaflet is available online:
