Information about Thornliebank Community Council.

Notice of Election

In accordance with Clause 6.2.2. of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, I hereby give notice that an election is to be held for 14 members of Thornliebank Community Council.

Persons wishing to stand for election must be resident in the community council area, aged 16 years or over and be named on the electoral register.

These requirements also apply to the proposer and seconder. Self-nomination is not permitted.

As part of the nomination process, candidates are required to submit a personal statement of up to a maximum of 250 words in support of their nomination. Copies of all nomination statements may be made publicly available.

To stand as a candidate, a valid nomination form must be submitted to the Returning Officer, Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, Giffnock, G46 6UG.

The deadline for the receipt of completed nomination forms is Wednesday 11 March 2020 at 4.45pm.

Should the number of validly nominated candidates exceed the number of vacancies, a poll shall be held (Date to be confirmed).

Should the number of validly nominated candidates not exceed the number of vacancies, and the total number of validly nominated candidates is between 7 and 14, the said candidates will be declared to be elected with immediate effect and no poll shall be held.

Should the number of validly nominated candidates be less than 7, no community council will be established.
