Trusted Trader

The Prevention Team in East Renfrewshire have joined forces with the Trusted Trader scheme run by Renfrewshire Council.

The scheme launched in East Renfrewshire on 1 April 2014.

The scheme - currently active and administered by Renfrewshire Trading Standards team for Renfrewshire residents and traders - will now be extended to include East Renfrewshire traders and residents.

Residents in the area, particularly the vulnerable, are frequently targeted by unscrupulous, cold calling, rogue traders form outwith the area.

The scheme aims to help customers choose a reliable trader by publishing an online directory of local, Trading Standards vetted businesses that have allowed previous customers to comment and rate their work.

Looking for a trusted trader or do you want to join:

Care and Repair is a very useful service for many of our are Telecare customers

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged 60 or over.
  • Disabled or the parent or guardian of a disabled person.
  • An owner-occupier or private, council or housing association tenant living in East Renfrewshire.

Types of jobs:

  • Fit a Key Safe
  • Joinery
  • Plumbing
  • Safety / Security

They do not do:

  • Any electrics jobs anymore
  • Gardening
  • Painting and decorating
  • Domestic appliance repairs (other than changing plugs or fuses)
  • Works which they estimate will take longer than 2 hours
