Helping residents to avoid energy efficiency scams
We're taking part in a national campaign which aims to raise awareness of issues that consumers are having across the country, and the protections and resources available to help people.

The theme of this year's Citizen's Advice National Consumer Week, which runs from Monday 6 - Sunday 12 December, is misleading environmental and energy efficiency claims.
Companies are operating across East Renfrewshire to install measures to help make homes more energy efficient at reduced or no cost through the availability of funding or grants.
There are currently four funding initiatives in operation: The Local Authority ECO Flex scheme, Energy Efficient Scotland (EES) - area based schemes, Warmer Homes Scotland and Home Energy Scotland Loans.
We're reminding residents to look out for companies providing false information about how they or their products are more environmentally friendly than they actually are.
Residents should take time to research and find reputable and suitable traders offering energy efficiency measures for their home, and should not engage with cold callers on the phone or at their door who claim to offer better energy deals or immediate energy efficiency work.
Responding to false adverts online or text messages could also result in giving out personal information to a fraudster or paying for a product or service which does not exist.
Councillor Betty Cunningham, Convener for Environment, said: 'We are all becoming more aware about energy efficiency improvements which can help make our homes greener and reduce our energy bills. However, it's important to recognise that some deals may not be genuine or are too good to be true. You should always take the time to research the best measures for your household. By doing so, you'll be able easily identity what might be a scam and how to avoid them. We recommend that you never engage with cold callers.
