Getting About Mearns - have your say
We're seeking views from the local community to help shape future designs for Newton Mearns town centre.
The Getting about Mearns masterplan will focus on ideas which will help people move around the town centre, such as improvements to roads and junctions, and access to key services and green spaces.
A drop-in information event is taking place to allow the community to influence initial ideas and to put forward their own. This event is set for Thursday 23 March at the Market Place in the Avenue Shopping Centre between 3pm and 7pm.
An online survey is open now to gather views on the town centre. The survey closes on Monday 24 April.
East Renfrewshire Council Environment and Housing Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin said: 'We want our town centres to be hubs for the community, with easy access to services and amenities, so in order to ensure we're making the right improvements for the area, we need the views of those who live, work and visit Newton Mearns. I'd encourage any who can to take a couple of minutes to complete our online survey and if you'd like to speak to the team about it, head along to the Avenue Shopping Centre for our information event.'
This project is funded by Sustrans' Places for Everyone programme and builds on previous consultations including Balgray Connection, A77 Places for Everyone and the Newton Mearns Local Action Plan survey.
