Communities to benefit from Council contracts wish list
We're asking local groups to add their wishes to the community benefit wish list, to ensure contractors and suppliers support projects directly requested by communities.
Published 16 January 2024
The wish list was created as part of the our community benefits initiative, where suppliers who win any major contract must commit to supporting local causes through community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support and business supply chain development.
With a number of large scale projects getting underway, including the Aurs Road redevelopment, there is a significant opportunity for local groups to benefit and access support for their projects.
Any community group, including charities, schools and services, can submit online the cause they would like supported and it will then be displayed on our website. All relevant suppliers have a number of community benefit points to deliver as part of their contract and they will be asked to select from the wish list to fulfil this obligation.
East Renfrewshire Environment Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin, said: 'We're absolutely committed to ensuring that communities across East Renfrewshire benefit from our contract awards. There has already been some fantastic support shared across East Renfrewshire through the community benefit programme, including significant donations to local charities as well as employment and training opportunities for our young people. I'm in no doubt that there are many causes out there requiring support, so I'm delighted that our contractors and suppliers can help the projects that communities have identified themselves. I would encourage anyone with an idea to submit it to our wish list.'
