Having secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme, we sought the views of the local community to find out what improvements they wanted to see at the multi-use games area (MUGA).
The survey asked local people what they would like to see happen with the facility and by far one of the biggest responses was for football pitches but also a basketball court.
The new porous asphalt surface has a painted anti-slip surface and line markings for both football and basketball, as well as lines for a tennis court. It is open for community use seven days a week and bookings are not required.
Environment and Housing Convener Councillor Danny Devlin said: 'It's long been our wish to upgrade and improve these facilities in Dunterlie, so I'm delighted that we secured the funding and the project is now complete. It provides a much-needed space for young people to play and exercise and I look forward to seeing the local community enjoy it.'
