New community benefits hub launched

We've launched a new community benefits hub, where local community groups and not-for-profit organisations can add their wishes to a list, ensuring contractors and suppliers support projects directly requested by local communities.

Community Benefits

As part of our community benefits initiative, suppliers who win any major contract must commit to supporting local causes including community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support and business supply chain development.

The Community Benefits Hub is an online service which aims to connect communities and businesses to deliver real benefits for local people. Community wishes can include requests for goods and services, which can then be met by businesses which have been awarded contracts within the East Renfrewshire area. East Renfrewshire Council worked collaboratively in developing the new hub with the other seven Glasgow City Region local authorities.

Not-for-profit organisations such as schools and constituted community groups can register and add their wishes to the list here. There is also additional guidance and support for groups, along with the eligibility criteria.

Businesses can find local wishes that align with their business goals, live projects and contribute to their corporate social responsibility here. Businesses can register and create an account, add their live contracts with the Council, find a wish that they would like to deliver and then contact the community group directly.

East Renfrewshire Council Leader Owen O'Donnell, said: 'We're absolutely committed to ensuring that communities across East Renfrewshire benefit from our contract awards. There has already been some fantastic support shared across East Renfrewshire through the community benefit programme, including significant donations to local charities as well as employment and training opportunities for our young people. This new online hub will make it easier for community groups to add their wishes and for businesses to ensure they are meeting their contract commitments. I would encourage anyone with an idea to register and submit it online.'
