Business Improvement Districts

Find out about our Business Improvement Districts.

The Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) exist to work on behalf and for the success of the wider business community, based on the principle that we can achieve much more through working together to increase customers, stimulate investment and enhance the reputation of our area.

The Giffnock Village BID area is focused on the core of the Giffnock area. This currently equates to circa 70 properties

Aims

The aims of the Giffnock BID are:

  • To improve the economic opportunities for the businesses in Giffnock
  • To bring customers to Giffnock and improve repeat spend in the area
  • To improve the physical look and feel of the area
  • To market Giffnock to local, regional and national audience
  • To create a sense of community by improving businesses and local relationships
  • To make the BID 'cost neutral' for each business
  • To address issues of for all businesses - not just particular sectors
  • To give businesses a strong, unified voice
  • To support local community groups whose aims align with the BID

All About Barrhead began in September 2016 and comprises around 150 local businesses. The area of the BID begins at Tesco on Kelburn Street and encompasses all businesses along Main Street as well as all those in Cross Arthurlie Street until it meets Carlibar Road including businesses on Cochrane Street.

Aims

The aims of the Barrhead BID are to:

  • showcase Barrhead as a positive place to live, work, shop and visit. It achieves these goals through various community events which have become a staple of the local calendar such as the All About Barrhead Awards, the Big Bounce/Playweek and the Hallowe'en Parade, to name just three.
  • improve the look of the area by carrying out projects with the aim of  providing a clean and attractive environment.
  • provide support to businesses in many forms such as through first aid and fire safety courses, social media advertising and help applying for grants for premises improvement schemes such as the Get to Zero grant.
