Rubbish and recycling - festive arrangements 2023/24
Reminder of the changes during the festive period.
We've confirmed our plans for waste collection and recycling ahead of the upcoming festive period:
- There'll be no collections on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. During this fortnight, if your normal collection day is Monday, please present your bin on Tuesday. Everyone else should present their bins as normal and we'll aim to collect as follows:
25 December/1 January- No collections
26 December/2 January- Monday and Tuesday collections
27 December/3 January- Wednesday and remaining Tuesday collections
28 December/4 January- Thursday collections
29 December/5 January- Friday collections
- There'll be no brown bin collections from Monday 25 December 2023 until Monday 8 January 2024.
- Special uplifts will also be suspended from Monday 25 December 2023 until Monday 8 January 2024.
- Barrhead and Greenhags recycling centres will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. Both sites will close at 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Remember to make a booking before travelling to the sites.
- If you have a garden waste permit, you're entitled to have your tree collected after Christmas at no additional cost. Your tree must be broken down and disposed of in your bin, with the lid fully closed. No trees will be lifted from the pavement.
If you don't have a permit and wish to have your tree collected, you can pay £15 for a one-off uplift. These uplifts will only be available until Friday 12 January 2024 and you can pay for this online. Your tree must be broken down and disposed of in your bin, with the lid fully closed. No trees will be lifted from the pavement.
Alternatively, we're offering a free chipping service at Cowan Park in Barrhead and Rouken Glen in Giffnock from Wednesday 3 until Friday 12 January 2024. There will be fenced off areas within both parks, beside the car parks. You can leave your tree in these areas.
You can also take your tree to either of our recycling centres free of charge. Book a slot for the recycling centres. Please note, garden waste disposal at Greenhags recycling centre is accessed via stairs.
