Grey non-recyclable waste bin

Find out what goes in your grey bin, how often it's collected and how to request a new or replacement bin.

How often is my grey bin collected?

Your grey bin is collected every 3 weeks.

What goes in my grey bin?

Your grey bin is for waste that can't be recycled. Examples of waste that can't be recycled are:

  • plastic films
  • polystyrene
  • food contaminated cardboard and foil
  • bagged dog waste
  • cat litter
  • disposable nappies

Waste not in your grey bin

We'll only collect waste in your grey bin.

For excess waste that doesn't fit in your grey bin, you can request a special uplift.

You can also take it to your nearest recycling point or centre.

We work with Viridor to repurpose your non-recyclable waste through energy recovery. However we cannot treat gypsum, plasterboard and asbestos so do not place these in your household bin. Please take gypsum and plasterboard to a household waste recycling centre. Asbestos requires specialist handling and disposal.

Batteries and Vapes

Lithium batteries and disposable vapes which contain lithium-ion batteries present a significant risk of fire if they're crushed and/or punctured in one of our vehicles or at our waste processing facility. They should therefore be disposed of at one of our recycling centres where signage is in place.

Replacement bins

If your bin is damaged and you wish to order a replacement you should complete our an online request form
