Don't lose your voice - residents in East Renfrewshire urged to check their voter registration details are up to date.

Your vote matters

The Electoral Registration Officer will be getting in touch with every household to check that the electoral register is up to date, and to identify any residents who should be registered but are currently missing. With Local Council elections taking place in May 2022, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part.

Kate Crawford, Electoral Registration Officer for Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board said: 'Residents need to keep an eye out for their Canvass communication from Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in East Renfrewshire and you are able to vote in any forthcoming elections. You might not have been able to vote before but with the extension of voting rights, you may be able to vote now - but only if you are registered.

Following changes to the legislation governing the annual canvass we can now contact you by email or post. Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board will be sending a Canvass communication by email on 7 July 2021 to households that can be contacted by email. A paper form will be posted to other households on 21 July 2021.

People who have moved recently are also particularly encouraged to look out for the Canvass communication for their property and check the details are correct for their household. Please follow the instructions on your communication and respond as directed. By following the steps outlined this will enable any changes to be recorded and allow access to the government website in order to complete the registration process (opens new window).'

For any enquiries about your Canvass communication, please contact the Electoral Registration team either by telephone or by email.
