Dinosaur Treasure Hunt returning to East Renfrewshire
This autumn, Cowan Park will host a return of the dinosaur-themed treasure hunt called DinoCHUMs East Ren. All East Renfrewshire residents, and especially families, are invited to take part in this app-based challenge.

DinoCHUMs East Ren returns on Thursday 7 October and ends on Wednesday 20 October. It is absolutely free to participate.
The first DinoCHUMs treasure hunt, held in Rouken Glen Park, was a huge success. Scores of families from across the region took part, getting out and about to enjoy the sunny weather in July, with the added bonus of winning some fantastic prizes. Carrie Hornal and her children Logan (11) and Holly (8) were lucky enough to win a £50 Blair Drummond Safari Park voucher.
Carrie said: 'We really enjoyed the Dino hunt and it would be fun to do another one. It's a great way to explore a place. The kids loved getting out with their friends and solving the clues. They were over the moon to be one of the prize winners!'
Both treasure hunts are part of the Choose How U Move East Ren programme, which runs until the end of October 2021. Choose How U Move East Ren is a free to join rewards programme designed to help you get active, earn rewards and support local traders and charities. It rewards sustainable travel for commuting and leisure trips and encourages regular, healthy activity amongst people who live and work in East Renfrewshire.
Taking part in DinoCHUMs East Ren is easy. Simply download the BetterPoints app onto a smart phone, register your details and join the 'Choose How U Move East Ren' programme. You can then use the BetterPoints app to track your active journeys and earn rewards.
App users will be notified when DinoCHUMs East Ren launches in early October 2021. To take part, simply visit Cowan Park with your smart phone when the treasure hunt is running, making sure you have set up the BetterPoints app before you arrive.
You can then find up to ten Dino friends (called DinoCHUMs) by following the instructions on the app and solving the clues. Finding Dinos will put you into the running to win some great prizes.
You can take part once per day across the entire Treasure Hunt period, and each time you take part you will be entered into a prize draw. DinoCHUMs can only be found during daylight hours.
East Renfrewshire Council Leader, Councillor Tony Buchanan said: 'We are really excited that the DinoCHUMs treasure hunt, which so many families enjoyed the first time round, is returning to the new location of Cowan Park. This not only provides great access for people from Barrhead, but also an opportunity for other residents to get involved in the Choose How U Move East Ren programme. We hope to see many more families out enjoying the crisp autumn weather this October half term hunting for DinoCHUMs!
'Since the wider Choose How U Move programme launched back in May, people have been encouraged to walk, wheel, run or cycle more than they already do. Participants are able to earn rewards and enter multiple prize draws with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. There are hundreds of local people taking part in the wider programme and they have already clocked up over 12,000 miles, burnt nearly 1.5 million calories and mitigated over 3 tonnes of CO2.
