Adoption Support
Find out about the support available to adopters and their families

Support when adopting
When you care for a child, they'll continue to have their own social worker until an adoption order is granted. The placing authority will have responsibility to provide adoption support for the first 3 years post adoption order being granted.
You'll receive support from your own social worker. They'll help with the practical and emotional everyday tasks linked to adoption.
Post Adoption Support Services
Adoption can have an impact for many people. We recognise that everyone may need help at different points and through our adoption service we wish to support all families families who have experienced adoption.
If you feel that you'll need a more sustained support from social work services, you should contact our Request for Assistance Team on 0141 577 8300 or email requestassistance@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk who'll carry out an initial assessment. After the initial assessment, we'll discuss a referral to our family placement team for support and intervention to families.
Or if you are keen to access any of the support groups below, please contact us at fost@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk to be added to our mailing lists for groups.

Staying Connected - Adoption Letters
We offer support to birth families and adoptive families who are completing letters. We have dedicated support to assist people in how to write a letter to a child or young person. We're keen to make the letter exchange as meaningful for children as possible. If you require support with this please contact us at fost@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk.
