One week to go until polls open

The countdown is on to the UK General Election on Thursday 4 July - and East Renfrewshire residents are being reminded to make their vote count.
With just one week to go until the polls open, completed ballot papers are already being submitted by those with postal votes.
It's important that anyone voting by post follows the instructions for completing their ballot paper and postal voting statement carefully, before returning it as soon as possible.
East Renfrewshire's Returning Officer, Steven Quinn, said: 'Staff are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the election within the East Renfrewshire constituency runs extremely smoothly. Postal votes are already arriving and when it comes to polling day, voters are reminded to mark a single 'X' next to the name of the candidate they wish to vote for. Once all the votes have been cast, our election team will then ensure the count is carried out efficiently before we are able to announce the successful candidate who will be elected as the MP for East Renfrewshire.'
When polling places open their doors at 7am on 4 July, voters are reminded that they will need to show an accepted form of ID when voting in person.
The new legal requirement means that an original version of accepted ID must be produced before electors are allowed to vote at polling places.
If a voter turns up at a polling station with no accepted photo ID, they will not be issued with a ballot paper and will need to return with an accepted form of photo ID.
Accepted forms of ID include a passport, driving licence (including provisional), Scottish National Entitlement Card, Blue Badge, Identity Card with PASS mark, biometric immigration document, defence identity card, and some national identity cards. You can still use your photo ID if it's out of date, as long as it looks like you. A full list of accepted ID can be found at electoralcommission.org.uk.
A total of 24 polling places will be used across East Renfrewshire, with the majority remaining the same as have been used for previous General Elections.
In two changes, Carlibar Primary School will no longer be used, with the polling place now switched to Dunterlie Community Centre. And Carmichael Hall is being used instead of St Ninian's High School. Details of which polling station to attend are printed on your polling letter.
