Employees across the Council have been praised for their 'hugely impressive' efforts in supporting residents during Storm Eowyn.

Council Chief Executive Steven Quinn thanked the many teams involved in the council's response, which ranged from clearing fallen trees to ensuring care workers were able to visit vulnerable residents.

Steven Quinn said: 'The response of council employees was hugely impressive and my thanks to all our teams who overcame the challenges of dealing with such extreme weather to continue our vital work for communities across East Renfrewshire. It really is at times like this that we see our public services at their best and there were many examples of excellent teamwork on display across the council and Health and Social Care Partnership.'

Care at Home employees and District Nurses continued to deliver services to people in their own homes on Friday while our Customer Services team answered calls for assistance from residents.

Fallen trees were cleared from roads and footpaths, with this work continuing over the weekend.

Building standards officers inspected damaged homes and emergency repairs were carried out to council houses.

Checks were carried out on council buildings, including schools, all of which were able to reopen as planned.

Almost all council services have now returned to normal. Residents can contact our Customer Services team on 0141 577 3001 about any outstanding issues.
