Child Services

Information about our role to promote the welfare of children and families across East Renfrewshire.

It's our role to promote the welfare of children and families across East Renfrewshire. We also have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need in our area and to promote the upbringing of children in need by their families. We do this by providing a range and level of services appropriate to children's needs.

What we provide

We provide assessment of need and on going support to families affected by substance misuse, mental health, children affected by disability, families experiencing problems due to separation and loss and with children experiencing difficulties with trauma or behavioural problems.

We also work with some young people who are at risk of offending within their communities or children involved with the children's hearing due to a lack of parental care or being out with parental control.

Following assessment we'll work in partnership with families to try to bring about change to ultimately improve outcomes for our children and young people.
