Suppliers who win any major contract must commit to supporting local causes through community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support and business supply chain development.

What are community benefits?

Community benefits can include but are not limited to:

  • school curriculum and employability support
  • local supply chain development
  • community enhancement and support

Wish list

Any communities and service groups can add their cause to our community benefits wish list. Find out more and submit a wish.

The wish list has been developed to allow communities to make requests directly to companies working in East Renfrewshire.

Local communities or organisations can submit a request for specific help via our online community benefits wish list form and provide details of any requirements and timescales. If you're a school or service looking for industry input or if you're a charity or community group looking for resources to help your local community then please get in touch.

Some examples include the following but we are open to new and innovative requests:

  • Industry input to an event, programme or course.
  • Work placement requests.
  • Donation of materials or staff time towards a community project.
  • Sponsorship of a community or employability initiative.
  • Support for community regeneration initiatives.
  • Mentoring e.g. for SMEs or third sector organisations to improve performance.

Contractors will be directed to the wish list when preparing their contract bid and upon contract award.

If you would like to find out more about any of the wishes or be connected with a group to deliver a wish please contact lorna.wallace@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk

Examples of wishes

We would like to request any work experience or placement opportunities on construction contracts such as school builds or the Aurs Road Project for our care experienced young people within East Renfrewshire.

Our programme would work closely with employers to ensure that young people are matched to placements and ensure that there is support at all times. Ideally we would like to run a short pre-placement course with our clients to ensure that they are ready for placement with perhaps mentoring support from the employers or a pre-site visit.  Again we would work closely with employers to ensure expectations met on both sides.

Approved 25 CBP for an employment opportunity 10 CBP for training or work experience.

The Eco Garden at Williamwood High School is of key importance to staff and pupils. The sustainability group and classes use the garden to provide hands-on practical experience of gardening and growing food. Much work has already been done on the garden but we are in need of some help especially in light of Covid as it would be good to ensure the outdoor space is being utilised as well as possible. We currently require about two tonnes of compost to fill raised beds. Some of the benches in the garden are in a state of disrepair so any benches that could be donated would also be greatly appreciated. Lastly the path areas require gravel and de-weeding. Any donations of time or resources would be greatly appreciated. Training for DYW Co-ordinator Role provided by SDS.

5 CBP per £1000 donated or 5 hours of volunteer time
