Teen and carer

Could you be the person to make a difference in a young person's life? Have you ever thought about doing something truly rewarding?

Being a supported carer makes a positive difference not only to a young person's life but also yours.

Within East Renfrewshire our Supported Care service offers quality, nurturing family-based care for young people providing them somewhere to live at a time of need and will take place in supported carers own homes.

As a supported carer you will be part of the support network for a young person. You'll be in regular contact with the young person's social worker and be invited to attend and participate in relevant meetings to support their plan. You'll be offered a full range of training and learning opportunities to assist you in providing the best quality of care.

Supported care is part of our adult placement service and is registered and inspected by Care Inspectorate.

Our recent 2025 inspection found:

"Young people were leading positive, healthy and enjoyable lives through the implementation of high-quality planning. Care and support is enhanced by the involvement of caregivers and the wider service. The service had a key role in contributing to multi-agency planning for young people.

Young people's views are consistently sought and represented in decision making forums. Their views and participation is sought and influences aspects of service development. Supervising social workers and caregivers are effective partners in local authority review processes and help to ensure that young people's voices are central to these plans. Where young people's views are not being sufficiently heard, caregivers often act as powerful advocates and will enlist independent advocacy when needed."
