Care Home Service Praised for Warm, Person-Centred Support
Bonnyton House care home has been praised by Inspectors following an unannounced visit.

East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership's Bonnyton House care home has been praised by Inspectors following an unannounced visit.
The Care Inspectorate evaluated two key areas during the inspection on 19 and 20 August 2025, and awarded grades of 5 - Very Good for 'How well do we support people's wellbeing?' and 4 - Good for 'How good is our setting?'.
Bonnyton House is a purpose-built care home in Busby, providing care for up to 34 adults and older people, including short-term rehabilitation support. The home offers a welcoming, homely environment with accessible outdoor spaces, communal lounges, and a newly refurbished multipurpose room for residents and visitors.
Inspectors observed that care was delivered with warmth, kindness and compassion, and that staff and management were motivated to make a positive difference to people's lives. Families praised the quality of care, with one relative commenting: "The care is excellent," and another saying: "My mother is very well looked after."
The report highlights a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting people's health and wellbeing, with strong links to district nursing and other health professionals. Medication was found to be well managed, and meaningful activities—including musical entertainment, community outings, and interactive technology—were seen to enhance residents' wellbeing.
Inspectors noted that the service had recently recruited a wellbeing coordinator and invested in initiatives such as the Happiness Programme and Project Milkshake, which support nutrition and engagement. Mealtimes were described as relaxed and well-organised, with food quality praised by residents.
Bonnyton House was also commended for its commitment to continuous improvement, with a robust service improvement plan informed by residents and families. The home was found to be clean and safe, though Inspectors recommended clearer signage and some refurbishment to ensure the environment remains dementia-friendly.
Councillor Katie Pragnell, Chair of East Renfrewshire Integration Joint Board, said:
"This is a very positive report and a testament to the dedication of the Bonnyton House team. Their person-centred approach and commitment to wellbeing shine through in the feedback from residents, families and professionals.
"We're proud of the improvements made and will continue to work on the recommendations to ensure Bonnyton House remains a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who lives there."
