The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to all young people from 14 to 24 years old.

What's the Duke of Edinburgh Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a youth awards programme. You'll have the chance to:

  • set and achieve goals
  • take part in fun activities
  • make new friends
  • volunteer in your local community
  • learn new skills

How do I get involved?

The DofE Award is available through all our high schools, but you can also take part outside school through an open group.

Award levels

Bronze

You need to be at least 14 to do this award. It takes at least 6 months.

Silver

You need to be at least 15 to do this award. It takes at least 12 months.

Gold

You need to be at least 16 to do this award. It takes at least 18 months and also includes a residential project.

Each level covers the areas of:

  • volunteering
  • skills
  • physical recreation
  • expeditions
