About Justice Social Work Services

Find out about the type of services the Justice Social Work team provide in East Renfrewshire.

Aim

Our aim is to improve community safety and public protection through targeting our resources to reduce the risk of offending and harm in local communities. To do this, we work in partnership with:

  • Housing Services
  • Scottish Prison Service (SPS)
  • police
  • the Crown Office
  • the Procurator Fiscal Service
  • organisations in the voluntary sector

Services

All services are provided locally. We:

  • report to courts, the Procurator Fiscal and the Parole Board
  • supervise offenders using effective risk management plans to reduce reoffending
  • challenge offenders to understand the impact of their behaviour on their victims, families, themselves and the local community
  • help with unpaid work placements to benefit the local community
  • process fiscal work orders and Drug Treatment and Testing Orders (DTTO) to reduce drug-related crime
  • provide Throughcare, which helps prisoners return to the community, and access to a range of group work including accredited programmes
