Community Learning and Development (Youth Work)
We work with young people age 11 to 25 years across East Renfrewshire. Our work takes place in schools and in the wider community.

Our services
The youth work team target young people most in need such as:
- young people with additional support needs
- those taking part in high risk behaviour such as early sexual activity and smoking
- young parents
- those at risk of taking part in criminal or antisocial behaviour
Our youth facilities
We have 2 youth facilities where we run a wide range of clubs and activities:
- The Edge, Newton Mearns
- The Museum, Barrhead
Our aims
We aim to:
- listen and hear what young people have to say
- build young people's self-esteem and confidence
- develop their ability to manage personal and social relationships
- offer worthwhile and challenging new experiences
- provide learning opportunities to allow young people to develop new knowledge and skills
- build young people's capacity to consider risks and consequences, make informed decisions and take responsibility
- help young people develop social awareness and common interest
- give young people a voice in decision-making which affects their lives
- enhance young people's roles as active citizens
- We believe youth work has an important role in helping young people achieve this.
