Lynda and Andy's Story

Building relations and restoring trust

Lynda and Andy Webb say fostering is more than a job, it's a "calling in life".

And the relationships they have built with the young people in their care have been life-changing - for everyone involved.

"We've taken care of eight young people over the past 14 years, some for short periods of time and others for long spells.

"It's the most rewarding thing we've ever done.

"When our family grew up, we knew we wanted to continue to help young people.

"Teenagers and young adults were a better fit for our lifestyle so we welcomed a number into our home and cared and nurtured them through some tricky times.

"There are always ups and downs but the rewards far outweigh every challenge.

"Being a foster carer has changed our lives for the better and also changed the lives of young people - it's a win win.

"We have built long-lasting relationships with all our young people.

"In fact, not that long ago a birthday card arrived from a young girl who had stayed with us which said; 'I wouldn't be here without you.'

"That really hit home the difference we are making, and reminded us that this isn't just a job - it's a calling in life."
