Use this service to apply for a building standards certificate

The licensing board looks at applications for premises where alcohol will be sold for:

  • drinking on premises
  • drinking off premises
  • drinking both on and off premises

Before you start

Before an application can be made to the Licensing Board for a Premises Alcohol Licence, you must obtain a Section 50 Certificate for Planning Permission, Building Standards and Food Safety.

These certificates confirm the suitability of the premises for their intended use.

How much does it cost?

A fee of £138.10 is required for a building standards certificate.

We'll only provide the building standards permit when we carry out an inspection, and we're satisfied the premises meet the required standard.
