Service Information

To operate an animal related business in East Renfrewshire you need to obtain an operator's licence.

There are new regulations that require licensing for the following activities:

  • Animal breeders - dogs, cats and rabbits
  • Animal sales - pet shops
  • Animal rehoming activities (other than operating as an animal welfare establishment)
  • Animal welfare establishments -animal rehoming centre and animal sanctuary

We also issue licences for the following activities

  • Animal boarding establishments (Home boarding as well as kennels/catteries)
  • Horse Riding Establishments
