Insight into our annual performance published
Our public performance report, which provides a summary of its performance for 2022-23, has been published online.
Published: 27 September 2023
Created in video format, the report offers an overview into some of our key highlights and achievements.
The video summarises our work with partners, whilst working alongside local communities to make residents' lives better.
It focuses on our five strategic outcome areas:
- Early years, vulnerable children and young people
- Learning, life and work
- Local economy and the environment
- Safe, supportive communities
- Older people and people with long term conditions
The report also looks at our new and growing customer-focused digital services and is complemented by case study interviews from teams across the Council including Family First, Digital Telecare and East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust.
Also featured is Paul McIlvenny, Chairperson and Co-Founder of Barrhead based charity Include Me 2 Club, who shares his experience working with us to renovate the Cowan Park gate lodge building and bring a social enterprise hub, café, bike workshop, meeting space and public toilets to the park.
We set out some of the key achievements and updates for 2022/23. For young people - schools continue to be some of the best in Scotland with high attainment rates, very low levels of exclusion as well as large numbers of young people moving on to employment, further education or training from school.
For communities - 132 new homes built for local people to positively impact the local economy, top recycling rate and East Renfrewshire also continues to be one of safest places to live in Scotland.
For older people - over 97% live independently in their own homes rather than in a care home or hospital.
Councillor Owen O'Donnell, Leader of East Renfrewshire Council, said: 'It has been another challenging year for our residents and staff, with a continuing increase in cost of living undoubtedly touching each of us in some way. However it's been great to see that we are continuing to make progress in each of our five key outcomes as we strive to ensure we fully support our residents from birth right through to the later stages in their lives. It is the work of many people joining together each and every day to support our communities across East Renfrewshire, and I must thank our partners who work with us closely as we continue to make the area a better place to live, work and visit. Looking forward, our priorities continue to be supporting the most vulnerable people in our communities as we aim to build a better future for all our residents.'
