Low cost home ownership

There are different Scottish Government schemes available to help you buy your own home.

Open Market Shared Equity scheme

This can help people on low or moderate income buy a home who can't pay the full price.

You pay the majority of the price and the Scottish Government pays the rest. The Scottish Government helps you buy the property and gets the same percentage back when you sell it.

Link Housing manages this scheme in East Renfrewshire for the Scottish Government.

The New Supply Shared Equity scheme

This is open to first time buyers and existing homeowners with a significant change in circumstances.

It can help you buy a new build home from a council or housing association.

Help to Buy (Scotland) Affordable New Build scheme

This can help you buy a new build home without the need for a large deposit.

It's open to first time buyers and existing homeowners. It can help you with up to 15% of the price of a new build home.
