Barrhead Community Council

Elections for membership to Barrhead Communuity Council will be held on Monday 19th January 2026.  The nomination period for elections will open on Monday 3rd Novemeber 2025 and will run until Midnight on Sunday 30th Novemeber 2025 . What is the Nomination Period? 

Anyone wishing to become a member of a community council is required to be nominated fo membership during this period. Nominations are done through the Nomination Form which is available by contacting the Community Council Liason Officer on the details above. 

What happens at the close of the Nomination Period?

Barrhead community can have a mximum of 15 members on the comunity council. If, at the close of the nomination period the amount of mominations recieved is less than 15, but more than 7, those nominated persons are duly elected to Barrhead Community Council and arrangments will be made to hold a Returning Meeting. 

If, at the close of the nomination period more than 15 nominations for membership is recieved, an election will be held on the 19th January 2025. 

If, at the close of the nomination period fewer than 7 nominations are recieved, a second call for nominations will be arranged.
