Our Customer Service opening hours are 8.45am - 4.45pm, Monday to Friday. The Payment Centre hours are 9am - 4.15pm, with only credit/debit card payments (not cash) between 1pm and 2pm.

Payment difficulties

If you have any difficulty paying, or if you fall behind with your council tax payments, please contact us as soon as possible via phone on 0141 577 3208.  If you contact us early we can try to help you.

What happens if you do not pay your council tax?

  1. If you do fall behind with your payments, we will send you a reminder asking you to bring your payments up to date within seven days. 

  2. If you do not do this, you may lose the ability to pay by instalments. 

  3. Instead, the full amount will have to be paid for that year within fourteen days. 

  4. If you do not pay the amount that you owe at this point, we will take further action to recover the full amount. This may lead to Sheriff Officers becoming involved in recovering the debt.

  5. At which point:

You will then have to pay any expenses involved, including an extra 10% of the amount you owe and: your bank account may be arrested; your earnings may be arrested; deductions may be made from your Income support and/or Job Seeker' Allowance.
